Roger Mercer – Managing Director
After gaining a HND at Harper Adams Aricultural College, Roger started working on the home farm. Initially this was on the arable side but then moving into dairy and pigs. Roger took over the farm in 1979 and continued to expand the arable and livestock production as well as involvement in ither areas.
As well as the farming and property development side of the business he is also involved in advisory work to outside businesses, is a Director of CFTG and several other companies, Chairman of the Trustees at Lichfield Cathedral, a Governor at Harper Adams University College and a Nuffield scholar.
Karen Mercer – Director and Partner
As a director and partner of the business Karen is effectively involved in the estate and residential side, as well as majoring on the philanthropic side with Pump Aid and Sedbergh, and for over 20 years has also held the position of Treasurer for St Leonard’s Church, Wychnor.
Steven McKendrick – Farms Director
Steven has been with the company for 11 years. He is responsible for the day to day management of the arable and joint venture farms, as well as being involved in the overall business direction at board level. He is a Nuffield Scholar and takes an active interest in progressive farm management.
Robert Mercer – Director and Partner
Robert was educated at Sedbergh School in Cumbria and took a year out to work on a dairy farm in New Zealand and travel before gaining a degree in Agriculture at Newcastle University. Whilst at Newcastle he represented the university in various sporting areas and was chairman of the Agricultural Society. On his return home in June 2002 he worked at one of the family’s pig units which gave him the inspiration and knowledge to set up Packington Fields Farm in 2003. From here he supplies Packington Pork: a high quality free range pig to local butchers and retailers. Robert now oversees the livestock operation within Mercer Farming and is looking to diversify into other food sectors.
