After gaining a HND at Harper Adams Agricultural College, Roger started working on the home farm. Initially on the arable side, he moved into dairy and pigs. Roger took over the farm in 1979 and continued to expend the arable and livestock production. As well as the farming and property development side of the business he is a director and advisor of several businesses, Chairman of Trustees at Lichfield Cathedral, Vice Chairman of Governors at Harper Adams University College and a Nuffield scholar.

Robert Mercer

Robert took a year out to work on a dairy farm in New Zealand before gaining a degree in Agriculture at Newcastle University. Whilst at Newcastle he was chairman of the Agricultural Society. In June 2002 he worked at one of the family’s pig units giving him the inspiration and knowledge to set up Packington Fields Farm in 2003. He now supplies Packington Pork: a high quality free range pig to local butchers and retailers, and subsequently set up other outdoor units in the same vain. Robert now oversees the pig business within Mercer Farming and Packington Pork, and founded Medium Rare a high quality meat distribution and marketing company.

After studying Agriculture at Newcastle University, Alec decided he wanted to produce a product of high welfare standards and environmental ethics and one which he could get straight to the consumer. He started Packington Poultry in 2007, now selling his free-range chickens to quality butchers in the UK. He is now spending increased time on the arable and estate services areas of the farm which he is looking forward to increasing as time goes on.

After graduating from Newcastle University in 2002 with a Bsc in Agricultural Business Management and Economics, George pursued a successful banking career in the City before setting up Medium Rare in September 2006 with his long standing University friend Rob Mercer. Medium Rare supplies Pork, Lamb, Beef and Poultry produce to a rapidly expanding customer base throughout the UK. From local Butchers to World renowned Restaurants in London and the Shires, the brands are synonymous for both quality and taste. More recently Medium Rare has opened three of their own butchers counters within farm food halls.

Director Fairfield Farming

James Daw and Roger Mercer recognized the strength in collaboration and started working together on joint farming projects in 2000. In 2004 they formalised this arrangement by forming Fairfield Farming. This undertakes farming for clients on a varied basis including FBT, share farming and contract farming.

The team are the hub and first point of contact for the company. They manage the day to day running of the offices, supporting the Directors and Partners and administering all of the operations involving a huge variety of tasks. They also manage the accounts for all of the companies as well as Mercer Farming including Fairfield Farming, Packington Pork, Packington Poultry, and Medium Rare.
